Women’s & Girls Cricket at York CC – Update
Over the last few weeks a number of us have been considering the future of women’s cricket at York cricket club.
Our view is that cricket clubs are changing, for the better, and that the game is shifting to become a game that is played as much by women and girls as boys and men. At York cricket club we want to be at the forefront of that change and want to invest in that vision of the future seriously and immediately.
With this in mind, we’ve taken the decision to split our adult team (known as the Cobras) from our friends at Clifton Alliance and focus on making women’s cricket at York CC thrive. In 2025 we will have two junior female teams and at least one adult female team, playing as York Cricket Club. We will invest in coaching so that every female cricket that comes to play for us has a great time, uses our excellent facilities and becomes a better player.
We are also delighted to welcome women cricketers who play their Saturday cricket at other clubs, and wish to play in our women’s section as well.
Over the next few weeks we’ll get more information out about our winter programme, our kit offer (this will be very competitive, using Kukri sports and female specific) and our cricket for the Summer.
In the meantime please give Rob Flack or Matty Scurry a ring if you’d like further information.
